MADISON, Wis. (WRN) — At the Capitol, Robin Vos is reelected state Assembly Speaker.
The issue was not in doubt with Republicans maintaining a 54-45 seat majority. Vos taking a conservative tone in remarks to the chamber.
“We know government control over our lives doesn’t make us more prosperous, government spending doesn’t grow the economy, and socialism in any form, does not make us more free,” Vos said.
Vos promising to keep taxpayers in mind.
“They expect us to use every single dollar for a laudable purpose, not just another harebrained idea coming up with somebody from a different wing of this Capitol,” he said.
That different wing holds the offices of Democratic Governor Tony Evers.
Vos said Republican priorities are to pass a tax cut, not grow the size of government, demand accountability and measurable results with any increase in funding, and increase government efficiency and innovation.
