PRAIRIE du CHIEN, Wis. (WRN) — Wisconsin’s Third Congressional District was called for Republican incumbent Derrick Van Orden late morning on Wednesday.
He was challenged by Democrat Rebecca Cooke. With nearly all votes counted and a spread of 51.4 percent for Van Orden, and 48.6 percent for Cooke, the Associated Press called the race for Van Orden just after 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Van Orden first won in 2022 when he faced Democratic state Senator Brad Pfaff in one of the most competitive Congressional districts in the state. Cooke, a non-profit owner from Eau Claire, previously ran for the seat in 2022 but finished second in the Democratic primary.
The 3rd Congressional District encompasses most of western and parts of central Wisconsin.
