WASHINGTON, D.C. (WRN) — Amid increased gray wolf depredations in Wisconsin Congressman Tom Tiffany is reintroducing legislation to remove the predators from the Endangered Species List
“We’re seeing pets and livestock being devoured three years in a row. We’ve seen more pet and other animal depredations, they continue to rise,” Tiffany said.
In 2024 the DNR recorded 84 cases of confirmed or probable wolf depredations, mostly on livestock, up from 69 in 2023 and 49 in 2022. The Seventh District Republican’s Pet and Livestock Protection Act is nearly identical to the Trust the Science Act from last session. It passed the House but failed to advance in the US Senate.
Thirty cosponsors include Wisconsin Republicans Scott Fitzgerald, Glenn Grothman, Bryan Steil, Derrick Van Orden and Tony Wied.
