MADISON, Wis. (AP) — John Tonje scored 31 points and No. 11 Wisconsin beat Illinois 95-74 to earn its fifth straight victory and end its recent run of futility in this series. Wisconsin (21-5, 11-4 Big Ten) had lost its last nine matchups with the Fighting Illini. That included an 86-80 loss Dec. 10 at Illinois. Tonje’s big performance came three nights after he had 32 points in a 94-84 win at No. 13 Purdue. He’s the fourth player in school history to score at least 30 points in consecutive games.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Kam Jones scored 14 points, Chase Ross added 11 points and No. 16 Marquette cruised to an 80-56 win over Seton Hall. Ben Gold scored 10 points for Marquette (20-6, 11-4 Big East). Seton Hall (7-19, 2-13) was led by Isaiah Coleman with 13 points and Scotty Middleton with nine. The Golden Eagles, leading 17-13 with just over 11 minutes left in the first half, went on a 23-10 run to take a 40-23 halftime lead. Marquette outrebounded Seton Hall 40-24.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dawson Garcia scored a 27 of his season-high 32 points after halftime and Minnesota staged another dramatic rally this time beating UCLA 64-61. Lu’Cye Patterson’s layup with eight seconds left gave Minnesota the lead for good at 62-61. Garcia made two foul shots with .9 seconds to go to seal it. UCLA’s desperation heave wasn’t close. In its 69-66 win over USC on Saturday, Minnesota overcame a 14-point deficit, trailed for 35:48 and scored 40 points in the second half. Against UCLA, Minnesota overcame its largest deficit of 17 points, trailed for 37:41 and scored 41 points after halftime.

LAVAL, Quebec (AP) — Maddie Rooney made 21 saves for her first shutout this season to lead the Minnesota Frost past the league-leading Montreal Victoire 4-0 on Tuesday night. Denisa Krizova scored twice — including an empty-netter — and Liz Schepers and Kendall Coyne Schofield also scored for Minnesota. The Frost ended a three-game losing skid and halted Montreal’s winning streak at six games. Montreal was shut out for the first time this season
