STANLEY, Wis. (WJMC) — A driver from Withee was killed when his SUV struck the rear of a snowplow early Sunday morning.
The State Patrol said a Chippewa County Highway Department Snowplow was clearing snow on eastbound Highway 29, near Stanley. Just after 4 a.m. Sunday, the snowplow was rear-ended by a Jeep Compass.
The 19-year-old driver of the Jeep was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol use was a suspected factor in the crash.
The 45-year-old snowplow driver was not injured. Names were withheld pending family notification and the crash was being investigated by the state patrol.
